 We believe that finding your dream wedding gown should be an unforgettable experience.  As a small business, we open strictly by appointment to ensure a magical experience for you. We are not a big chain store, we have just one store only and it’s based in the lovely town centre of Shrewsbury.    Bridal gown appointments normally last around 90 minutes.  We have seating for around 5 guests and are fully accessible and inclusive to all. 

We will warmly welcome you into our boutique and usher you to our comfortable seating area.  Bottles of water will be available to you, as well as free WIFI (perfect for video calls to absent guests!).  As soon as you arrive for your appointment you will feel right at home with us. We will chat to you about your wedding plans in order to help us assist you in finding the most perfect dress and accessories.  We always advise keeping an open heart and mind when shopping for your dress as they can sometimes surprise you!  You and your party will browse our fabulous collection of wedding dresses which are a mix of new made-to-order, pre-loved and sale/ex-display, and after some gowns have been chosen to try we will escort the bride to our spacious fitting room where Suzanne will assist them. The dress will be pinned where necessary to give a better fit and we have a fabulous choice of accessories and other items to compliment the gown. Once we have dressed the bride, they can show their friends and family and admire themselves in our large mirror (we have tissues at the ready!).  We do not mind you taking photos of the gowns.  We will discuss the dress and answer any questions you may have before trying on the next one or retrying a previous.   Once “the one” has been selected for your big day we will look at accessories in more detail and will discuss alterations that may be needed.  Once you are finished trying wedding dresses, we will draw up your receipt or order form.   At this point some of our brides like to have their photo taken to remember the moment they said yes!  We will also give you a free small gift and dress bag.  

PS: - We think it’s true what they say, you really will know in your heart of hearts when you have found “the one”. Sometimes the decision isn’t always an easy one especially as there are so many beautiful gowns around, but with a little guidance and advice from us we are sure you will find the most perfect gown to make your heart flutter.

Hi! My name is Suzanne Heavens and I am the Proprietor of Heavenly Brides of Shrewsbury.  I run the boutique on my own by appointment, although you may from time to time to see my mum and daughter helping out too! 

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to own my own bridal shop. I remember making scrapbooks of my dream wedding at the very young age of six and drawing sketches of my ideal wedding dress.  I envisaged a Cinderella style of affair complete with glass slippers and horse drawn carriage! When it came to organising my own wedding, of course I relished every moment of the two years of planning! When shopping for my own wedding dress back in 2001/2002, I found that the customer service in some shops was less desirable and I vowed to myself back then that if I ever did own my own bridal business, the surroundings would be fun, informal, honest and friendly…after all...getting married and planning your wedding should be FUN!  Now, several years later, I still enjoy everything to do with weddings and parties.  After spending nearly six years managing a bridal shop for a national charity, I decided it was time to do it for myself, especially as I wanted to work more flexibly around my daughter and be closer to home.  So, after refurbishing the premises and sourcing the beautiful gowns and accessories, I opened the doors to Heavenly Brides on 8th December 2012.  I am extremely passionate about weddings and the bridal industry and I take a genuine interest in my customers’ plans and ideas. I am constantly scouring websites, magazines and visiting trade fairs to find out about the latest bridal trends and designers, but inevitably I believe that buying a wedding dress is very much a heart-led process.  I have been privileged to have helped so many brides over the years, and it’s lovely that they feel happy enough to continue to recommend me to their friends and family even years later.   On a more personal note; the motivation to take the jump into self employment came after I had my daughter; as I had a very rare life-threatening condition called HELLP Syndrome, and it made me realise that life really is too short not to follow our dreams.   I have a diploma in Business Coaching and am an Executive Board Member for the Shrewsbury Business Chamber.  I love a good strong cup of tea (but I’m also partial to a glass of Prosecco or g&t!); can’t function without my morning coffee; I love eating out; baking cakes; arts and crafts; cruise holidays; going for walks; watching films; and generally having fun with my family and friends.   I’m 43 years young, live in Shrewsbury and have a teenage daughter called Beth and a chihuahua called Molly.
